PML-N steps away from Azad Kashmir govt

21 October, 2025 18:56

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has announced that it will no longer be part of the Azad Kashmir government, saying the party will not support any “unnatural” government formation.

The announcement was made by Shah Ghulam Qadir, President of PML-N Azad Kashmir. He said the party has decided to sit in the opposition and will not join or support any new government setup.

Qadir stated that if the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) brings a vote of no confidence, it is their democratic right, but the PML-N will stay neutral and not take part in forming a new government.

He also warned that any party member who goes against this policy will face disciplinary action. According to him, a new government should only come through fair and transparent general elections.

The PML-N leader added that the party will continue working for the welfare of refugees and overseas Kashmiris and will play a positive role in resolving the ongoing constitutional and political crisis in the region.

At present, the coalition government in Azad Jammu and Kashmir includes the PML-N, PPP, Jammu and Kashmir People’s Party, and the Muslim Conference.
