Field Marshal Asim Munir strengthens ties with Egypt in High-Level Defense Talks

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir is currently on an official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt aimed at enhancing military cooperation and defence collaboration between the two brotherly nations.

During the visit, the COAS called on Egyptian Minister of Defence and Defence Production, General Abdul Maged Saqar, and Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa Fatehi.

In the meetings, both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, the regional security situation, and ways to strengthen bilateral defence and training cooperation.

Field Marshal Asim Munir emphasized that Egypt is a brotherly country and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further deepen strategic relations. He stated that enhanced cooperation between the two armed forces would not only benefit the people of both nations but also contribute to regional peace and stability.

During his visit to the Egyptian Ministry of Defence, the COAS was warmly received and presented with a Guard of Honour. He also laid a floral wreath at the Memorial of the Unknown Soldier and at the Grave of late President Mohamed Anwar Al-Sadat, paying tribute to Egypt’s national heroes.

Later, Field Marshal Asim Munir met His Eminence Sheikh Ahmed El-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, at Mashaikhat Al Azhar Al Sharif. The Grand Imam shared his insights on the challenges confronting the Muslim Ummah, while COAS highlighted the importance of countering extremist ideologies and rejecting distorted interpretations of Islam.

The visit underscores the longstanding fraternal ties between Pakistan and Egypt, rooted in shared faith, values, and a commitment to peace and cooperation in the Muslim world.
