Will 27 October Be a Public Holiday in Pakistan? Here’s What We Know

Fact check; Govt Announced 23 September Public Holiday in Pakistan?
Islamabad – October 23, 2025: As October 27 nears, many Pakistanis are wondering if the day will be a public holiday. The date is observed every year as Kashmir Black Day, a significant event in Pakistan’s history.
However, the Government of Pakistan has not declared October 27, 2025, as an official public or optional holiday in its annual list of national holidays.
Why October 27 Is Observed as Kashmir Black Day
Every year, Kashmir Black Day is marked to remember October 27, 1947, when Indian forces entered Srinagar and occupied Jammu and Kashmir. This day is seen as the beginning of India’s illegal control over the region.
Pakistanis and Kashmiris around the world observe the day with deep sorrow and unity, calling it one of the darkest moments in South Asian history.
While it is not a public holiday, October 27 carries strong emotional and national importance. Across Pakistan, rallies, seminars, and solidarity events are held to condemn Indian actions in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
The day also reaffirms Pakistan’s firm support for the Kashmiri people’s struggle for self-determination and freedom.
Pakistan’s Continued Support for Kashmir
Each year, Pakistani leaders, activists, and citizens express solidarity with Kashmiris, emphasizing that their struggle for justice will never be forgotten.
Even though October 27 is not a public holiday, it remains a symbol of resistance and national unity against oppression in IIOJK.
