New Pakistani passport carries THESE latest features [Check Fees & More Details]

23 October, 2025 12:13

The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports in Pakistan has unveiled new security features and slight modifications to its passport design. According to a recent statement, the updated passport will now include the mother’s name alongside the father’s name, marking a subtle but significant change.

The Directorate emphasized that there are no major structural changes to the passport itself. However, the visa pages of the updated passport will feature images of historic landmarks from various provinces of Pakistan, adding a cultural touch to the document.

Passport: A Crucial Document for Citizens Abroad

A valid passport is essential for all Pakistani citizens traveling abroad, as it not only grants the right to exit and enter the country, but also ensures the protection of its holder through Pakistan’s diplomatic and consular representatives in foreign nations. The passport serves as the primary identity document for citizens outside Pakistan.

Requirements for Obtaining an Ordinary Passport

For individuals applying for a passport for the first time, the required documents are as follows:

  • Proof of passport fee payment, either through an Original Bank Paid Fee Challan or an e-Payment Confirmation Receipt (SMS/Email with PSID Number).
  • Original and photocopy of the valid CNIC/NICOP.
  • NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the relevant department for employees of government, semi-government, or autonomous bodies.
  • Foreign passport and photocopy (for dual nationals only).

Passport Fees for October 2025

The Directorate also released the updated passport fees, which will be applicable starting in October 2025:

  • A 36-page passport will cost Rs4,500 for five years and Rs6,700 for ten years under the normal category, with urgent processing fees set at Rs7,500 and Rs11,200, respectively.
  • A 72-page passport will be priced at Rs8,200 for five years and Rs12,400 for ten years, with urgent processing fees of Rs13,500 and Rs20,200.
  • A 100-page passport will cost Rs9,000 for five years and Rs13,500 for ten years, with urgent processing priced at Rs18,000 and Rs27,000.

These changes are designed to streamline the passport application process while enhancing security and the overall user experience for Pakistani citizens.
