Crime Rate Drops 70% After CCD Formation: Punjab IG
Lahore: Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar has said that crime rates across Punjab have dropped significantly after the establishment of the Crime Control Department (CCD) by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
According to IG Punjab, the creation of CCD has led to remarkable improvements in law and order — in some areas, there are now several consecutive days without any major crime incidents.
He said that since Maryam Nawaz assumed office, she has given special attention to reforming and strengthening the police department. As a result, Punjab has witnessed a 70% reduction in overall crime.
Motorcycle snatching incidents have been reduced by more than half, car thefts have dropped by 62%, and robbery cases have gone down by 75%, the IG reported.
Dr. Usman Anwar added that the police are actively working to maintain peace across the province and eliminate the “Dala culture.” He mentioned that the CCD has been allocated Rs 4.5 billion, and the results are visible to everyone.
“All transfers and postings are being made on merit,” he emphasized, adding that the Punjab Police, in collaboration with the Home Department, is also launching a drone surveillance system to enhance security monitoring.
