Pakistan Navy Inducts State-of-the-Art Hovercraft in Creeks Area to Boost Maritime Defence

Rawalpindi, October 25, 2025 — Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf visited the forward posts in the Creeks Area to review the operational preparedness and combat readiness of Pakistan Navy personnel. During the visit, three state-of-the-art 2400 TD Hovercraft were formally inducted into the Pakistan Marines, marking a major step forward in enhancing the Navy’s operational strength and coastal defence.

The newly inducted hovercraft are designed to operate across multiple terrains — including shallow waters, sand dunes, and marshy coastal zones — where traditional vessels cannot function effectively.

This unique capability allows Pak Marines to perform operations seamlessly over both land and sea, significantly improving flexibility and mobility in the Creeks Area, a strategically sensitive region near the Pakistan-India maritime boundary.

According to naval officials, the induction of these platforms will provide a tactical advantage during complex missions and ensure a swift response against any potential threat along Pakistan’s coastal frontiers.

While addressing the officers and men during his visit, Admiral Naveed Ashraf said the induction of these hovercraft represents the Pakistan Navy’s ongoing modernization efforts and demonstrates its unwavering commitment to safeguarding national maritime interests.

He emphasized that the Navy continues to focus on upgrading its platforms and technologies to secure the country’s maritime frontiers and coastal regions, particularly the Creeks Area, which holds immense strategic importance.

“The induction of these new platforms symbolizes Pakistan Navy’s vision to modernize and our unwavering resolve to strengthen the defence of our maritime frontiers,” Admiral Ashraf said.

Highlighting the importance of maritime security, the Naval Chief underscored that the protection of Sea Lines of Communication (SLOCs) is not just a military responsibility but also a vital component of national sovereignty and economic prosperity.

He added that the Pakistan Navy continues to play a crucial role in maintaining peace and stability in the Indian Ocean Region, serving as a responsible maritime force that ensures safe and secure seas.

“We know how to defend our sovereignty and every inch of our maritime frontiers from Sir Creek to Jiwani,” Admiral Ashraf reaffirmed.

Concluding his address, Admiral Ashraf reassured the nation that Pakistan Navy’s defence capabilities are stronger than ever, backed by high morale and unwavering dedication of its personnel.

“From the shores to the sea, our defence capabilities stand firm, reflecting the spirit and strength of the nation,” he said.

The induction of these modern hovercraft marks another milestone in the Navy’s continuous efforts to reinforce Pakistan’s maritime security and national defence strategy.
