PMD issues moon sighting calendar for 2026

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued the moon sighting calendar for 2026, providing estimated dates for the start of each Islamic month, along with details about moon birth, sunset, and sighting times.

According to the calendar, the Shaban moon is expected to be sighted on January 21, while the Ramadan moon will likely be seen on February 18, 2026. The Shawwal moon, which marks the end of Ramadan and the start of Eid-ul-Fitr, is expected on March 19, 2026.

Similarly, the Dhul-Qa’d moon is predicted for April 18, and the Dhul-Hijjah moon, which signals the arrival of Hajj and Eid-ul-Azha, is expected on May 17, 2026.

The Muharram moon is likely to be sighted on June 15, followed by Safar on July 15, and Rabi’ al-Awwal on August 13, 2026.

Later months include Rabi’ al-Thani on September 12, Jamadi al-Awwal on October 12, Jamadi al-Thani on November 10, and Rajab on December 10, 2026.

The calendar has been prepared and released by the Climate Data Processing Center of the Meteorological Department to help guide religious and official planning for the upcoming year.
