26 October, 2025 12:24

ISLAMABAD — Pakistan’s electricity distribution companies have approached NEPRA to increase electricity rates in the first quarterly adjustment of the current financial year. The companies are seeking to collect PKR 8.41 billion from consumers.

The request, submitted for July to September 2025, will be reviewed by NEPRA, which will decide the per-unit adjustment. NEPRA has scheduled a hearing on November 6, 2025.

The companies have asked for PKR 21.70 billion under capacity charges and requested a reduction of PKR 3.98 billion under operations and maintenance costs.

This quarterly adjustment will also affect K-Electric. For comparison, in the last quarterly adjustment of the previous financial year, electricity was reduced by PKR 1.89 per unit, which was applied from August to October 2025.
