India Faces Backlash for Supporting Afghan Taliban Regime

26 October, 2025 15:35

ISLAMABAD — India is facing growing backlash over its alleged support for the Afghan Taliban regime and other militant groups operating in Afghanistan, accused of fueling regional instability and cross-border terrorism against Pakistan.

According to reports, the National Mobilization Front (NMF) — an armed Afghan organization — has issued a strong warning to India, criticizing New Delhi for backing the Taliban. The NMF said that India, which calls itself the world’s largest democracy, is “supporting terrorists instead of peace.”

The group warned that reopening the Indian Embassy in Kabul would be seen as direct support for the Taliban, strengthening extremist elements in Afghanistan. The NMF further cautioned that India’s ties with the Taliban, ISIS, and TTP could lead to a dangerous alliance of militant groups in the region.

“India must immediately end its cooperation with these terrorist organizations,” the NMF said, adding that if India continues this policy, it will be held responsible for any negative consequences in the future.

Observers say that India’s extremist policies under its current government are contributing to instability and unrest across South Asia.
