Lahore Ring Road Gets New 24/7 Traffic Management Center

29 October, 2025 13:53

The Punjab government has approved the establishment of an advanced Command and Control Center to enhance traffic monitoring and management on the Lahore Ring Road. The initiative, aimed at improving traffic flow and safety, was confirmed by Provincial Minister for Construction and Communications, Malik Suhaib Ahmed Bharth, during a meeting attended by senior officials including Sohail Ashraf, Secretary of C&W, and Faisal Fareed, Chairman of the Punjab Ring Road Authority.

The state-of-the-art center, which will be located at the Ring Road Authority’s headquarters, is set to be completed within four months at an estimated cost of Rs871 million. The center will feature cutting-edge monitoring technology, including 42 large screens and 20 analytical screens, to track daily traffic flow of around 150,000 vehicles.

A key aspect of the system will be its ability to monitor not just traffic volume, but also violations like overspeeding, improper lane changes, running red lights, and wrong-way driving. High-resolution cameras, Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) systems, and advanced data analytics will be used for real-time surveillance and violation tracking.

Minister Bharth emphasized that the new Command and Control Center will significantly enhance road safety and improve travel conditions for citizens, reducing accidents and ensuring smoother traffic management on the Lahore Ring Road.
