Taj Haider Bridge Karachi Opens for Public Use — Location, Route & Traffic Details

30 October, 2025 12:13

The Sindh Transport Department has announced the opening of the Taj Haider Bridge in Karachi, a vital transport link designed to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity in the city. Located near Qayyumabad Chowrangi, the bridge is initially operating on a one-way traffic system for the first ten days, after which it will transition to a two-way traffic flow.

Strategic Location and Significance

The Taj Haider Bridge connects the Korangi Industrial Area with adjacent localities, serving as a key segment of the Yellow Line BRT project under the Sindh government’s broader urban transport development initiative. This bridge is a crucial replacement for the old Jam Sadiq Bridge, which is slated for demolition and reconstruction. The new bridge is expected to significantly alleviate traffic bottlenecks and facilitate smoother movement between the industrial zones and residential areas of Karachi.

Improved Traffic and Connectivity

The Taj Haider Bridge incorporates dedicated lanes for buses, cyclists, and public transport, making it an integral part of Karachi’s expanding BRT network. Once fully operational, it will enable two-way traffic and improve access between Korangi, Qayyumabad, and other industrial hubs. Additionally, future plans include linking the bridge to the Karachi Electric bus system, which will connect areas like Gulshan-e-Maymar and Tower, further enhancing the city’s intercity transport framework.

The opening of the Taj Haider Bridge is a significant step in the Sindh government’s ongoing efforts to promote urban mobility, reduce traffic congestion, and support the efficient operation of the city’s industries. It marks a milestone in the development of an interconnected and efficient transportation network for Karachi.
