The explosion at the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) police station in Peshawar was caused by a short circuit in the storeroom, according to the preliminary investigation. National media reported the findings on Sunday, which also highlighted the swift response from the police and security forces, preventing further damage.
A police spokesperson confirmed that the blast resulted in the martyrdom of one CTD officer, Bilal Khan, and left two others injured. Despite the severity of the explosion, the prompt actions of the authorities ensured that additional destruction was avoided.
The spokesperson added that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Inspector General, Zulfiqar Hameed, has instructed the Additional IG of CTD to submit a detailed report on the incident within five days.
