Schools to Face Heavy Fines for Non-Adherence to New Timings

02 November, 2025 11:49

The Punjab government has announced strict enforcement of new school timings, warning that any educational institution failing to comply will be fined up to ten lakh rupees.

According to a formal notification issued by Director General of Environment Imran Hamid Sheikh, all public and private schools across the province are prohibited from opening before 8:45 a.m. The directive aims to address escalating levels of environmental pollution and worsening smog conditions in Punjab.

The DG Environment stated that the revised timings have been implemented with immediate effect. He further cautioned that any breach of the order will result in a monetary penalty ranging between five and ten lakh rupees against the school’s administration.

Imran Hamid Sheikh also informed that complaints or reports regarding violations of school timing regulations may be filed through the EPA Helpline 1373 or via the Green Punjab mobile application.
