Government Not Afraid of Criticism Over E-Challan System: Sharjeel Memon
Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that the implementation of the e-challan system in Karachi is a correct and necessary step by the government. He made it clear that the government is not afraid of criticism over this initiative.
Speaking at a press conference, Memon stated that the purpose of the e-challan system is not to pressure citizens, but to ensure compliance with traffic laws and protect lives on the roads.
He said that some political parties are opposing the system for political reasons, but the fact remains that traffic violations lead to daily accidents and loss of precious lives.
According to him, the new traffic regulations have already brought noticeable improvement in the city, and the government will continue to take measures that serve public interest.
Memon added that the government revised traffic laws because the old ones were not being properly implemented. He also mentioned that traffic fines have helped reduce accidents, and that suspects involved in the recent dumper truck accident have been arrested.
The minister further said that work on improving Karachi’s infrastructure is progressing rapidly, and urged citizens to follow the law to avoid unnecessary financial penalties.
