General Sahir Shamshad Mirza Strengthens Pakistan–Brunei Defence Ties During Official Visit

Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, NI, NI (M), is on an official visit to Brunei Darussalam, where he held high-level meetings aimed at deepening defence and strategic cooperation between the two friendly nations.

During the visit, General Mirza had an audience with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. The meeting reflected the mutual respect and longstanding friendship between Pakistan and Brunei, rooted in shared faith, values, and regional peace efforts.

General Mirza also met with Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence-II, and Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces. Discussions focused on the evolving global and regional security landscape and the importance of continued cooperation to ensure peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region.

During his visit to KDB Darulaman at Muara Naval Base and the Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces, General Mirza delivered an address titled “Pakistan’s Contributions to Regional Peace and Stability.” He highlighted Pakistan’s consistent efforts in promoting peace, combating terrorism, and fostering harmony through its responsible and professional armed forces.

The CJCSC’s interaction with Command and Staff Course students, including officers from 19 foreign countries, underlined Pakistan’s commitment to regional defence education and international collaboration.

His Majesty the Sultan and Brunei’s civil-military leadership highly appreciated the professionalism, dedication, and sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces in the global fight against terrorism. They also acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting security and peace across South and Southeast Asia.

Upon arrival at the Headquarters of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, General Mirza was presented with a Guard of Honour, symbolizing the deep respect and brotherly ties that define Pakistan–Brunei relations.

The visit marks another step forward in strengthening bilateral defence cooperation, training exchanges, and strategic understanding between Pakistan and Brunei — two Muslim nations united in their vision for a peaceful and prosperous region.
