IFA Sets Deadline for Food Businesses in Islamabad to Complete Registration

07 November, 2025 17:47

Islamabad: The Islamabad Food Authority (IFA) has issued a strong warning to owners of unregistered restaurants and food outlets in the federal capital, announcing a citywide crackdown starting December 1, 2025.

The announcement comes shortly after authorities partially sealed the popular Kabul Restaurant in Jinnah Super Market for allegedly violating cashless payment rules. Citizens had complained on social media that the restaurant was not accepting card payments.

According to the IFA, all food businesses — including hotels, restaurants, bakeries, cafés, and fast-food outlets — must complete their registration by November 30. Any business found operating without registration after this date will not be allowed to function.

The Director of the IFA said that from December 1, daily inspections will be carried out across the city. Any restaurant or food outlet found operating without registration will be immediately sealed, and heavy fines will be imposed on violators.

He explained that the purpose of this action is to ensure hygiene and safety standards in the food sector and to protect public health. The director added that unregistered food outlets are operating illegally and may pose a risk to consumers.

The IFA has urged all restaurant, hotel, and food business owners to complete their registration and submit proof to the authority by November 30 to avoid penalties. Registration can be done both online and offline, and the authority has set up a dedicated helpline to assist business owners with the process.
