On Sunday, the Indus River System Authority (IRSA) released 111,500 cusecs of water from various rim stations, with an inflow of 56,300 cusecs. According to IRSA’s data, the water level at Tarbela Dam on the River Indus was recorded at 1536.97 feet, which is 134.97 feet above the dead level of 1402.00 feet. The inflow at Tarbela was measured at 30,200 cusecs, while the outflow stood at 65,000 cusecs.
In the case of the Jhelum River at Mangla Dam, the water level was 1228.55 feet, which is 178.55 feet higher than the dead level of 1,050 feet. The inflow and outflow of water at Mangla Dam were recorded as 5,600 cusecs and 26,000 cusecs, respectively.
Water releases from key locations along the Indus River system were also noted, with 71,300 cusecs released at Kalabagh, 39,400 cusecs at Taunsa, 40,100 cusecs at Guddu, and 9,000 cusecs at Sukkur. Additionally, water releases from River Kabul and River Chenab were recorded at 8,300 cusecs at Nowshera and 5,700 cusecs at Marala, respectively.
The water releases are part of ongoing efforts to manage the country’s water resources efficiently as the rivers continue to flow at substantial levels.
