Israeli Forces Launch Military Operation Inside Syria’s Daraa Countryside

Daraa, Syria: Israeli occupation forces launched a military operation on Sunday inside Syrian territory, targeting the western countryside of Daraa, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The operation began when Israeli forces surrounded the western neighborhood of Maaariya village in the Yarmouk Basin area. Troops then carried out a wide search campaign across the region.

Local sources reported that two Israeli military vehicles entered the village from the nearby Al-Jazira barracks, an Israeli base built on the outskirts of Maaariya in December 2024. The vehicles patrolled several streets, supported briefly by a surveillance drone.

The Observatory said that Israeli incursions into Syrian territory have continued in recent days. Over the past three days, Israeli forces have conducted six separate operations in the Quneitra countryside, using tanks and dozens of military vehicles. Temporary checkpoints were set up to inspect civilians, vehicles, and identification documents.

These repeated incursions have created growing tension and fear among local residents, while the Syrian government has remained silent over the ongoing violations.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights condemned the actions, calling them a clear violation of international law and a threat to civilian safety. The organization urged the international community to take immediate action to stop these operations and protect Syrian civilians from further harm.
