A tragic drowning incident occurred at Manora Himalaya Beach in Karachi, where five students from Dow Medical University were caught in a deadly accident while on a picnic, on Wednesday. According to police officials, three students lost their lives in the incident, while two others were rescued in critical condition.
The victims, identified as Sharib, Ashhad Abbas, and Ahmed, were immediately recovered from the water by local authorities. Their bodies have been transported to a nearby medical facility for further legal formalities. The students had reportedly visited the beach to enjoy a recreational outing when the incident occurred.
“Three people lost their lives in the incident, and their bodies have been recovered. Two others were rescued in critical condition,” said a police spokesperson.
This tragedy follows a similar incident at Karachi’s Hawks Bay Beach on Saturday, where two young boys tragically drowned. Rescue workers managed to recover their bodies, and they were later identified as 15-year-old Mamoon and 16-year-old Mohsin, both residents of North Karachi.
In another related incident at Turtle Beach, authorities confirmed that four additional boys drowned in the sea near hut 109. Rescue operations were promptly initiated, but the bodies of these victims have not yet been recovered.
This series of incidents has raised serious concerns about the safety of beachgoers, especially in areas where swimming conditions can quickly become dangerous. Authorities continue to urge caution when visiting the coastlines, especially during peak holiday seasons.
