Islamabad’s new ‘Capital Street’ to become a food and culture hub – Check details

13 November, 2025 20:16

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) plans to build a vibrant food street near Shakarparian, called “Capital Street”, where people can enjoy a lively and safe environment with their families.

The project will be located near the Art and Craft Village and is part of ongoing efforts to beautify the city. Officials say Capital Street will be more than just a food destination—it will be a cultural and entertainment hub with restaurants, outdoor cafes, art workshops, exhibition spaces, and family-friendly zones. The goal is to showcase local arts, crafts, and culinary offerings.

CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa emphasized the importance of improving Islamabad’s food scene, including better hygiene and management standards. Along with Capital Street, the CDA has approved upgrades to existing food areas, including better lighting, parking, and waste management, to enhance visitors’ experiences.

Officials confirmed that the groundwork for Capital Street has not started yet, but the project promises to be a major attraction for residents and tourists alike.
