Islamabad Traffic Police Enforces New Rules for Heavy Vehicles
Islamabad Traffic Police Enforces New Rules for Heavy Vehicles
The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has announced new restrictions for heavy vehicles in the federal capital. From now on, trucks and other heavy vehicles can enter the city only during nighttime hours, between 12:00 am and 5:00 am. This step aims to reduce traffic congestion and improve flow during busy daytime hours.
Restrictions on Vehicles and Passenger Safety
The Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) has also emphasized a strict ban on dark-tinted windows. Drivers violating this rule will face legal action. In addition, motorcycles carrying more than two passengers are prohibited, and offenders will face penalties.
Public transport operations are also being regulated. Vehicles are not allowed to pick up or drop passengers at unauthorized locations. Bus owners must provide tickets to passengers before boarding to ensure safety and accountability.
Meetings will be held with all bus terminal managers to ensure these rules are implemented effectively. Similarly, owners of freight vehicles will be instructed to unload goods only at designated areas to avoid traffic disruptions.
Purpose of the New Measures
These new rules are part of a broader initiative to improve traffic management, road safety, and public order in Islamabad. Authorities believe stricter regulations on heavy vehicles, combined with organized public transport measures, will make commuting smoother for residents and visitors alike.
