KARACHI: The Sindh provincial government has expanded its Pink Bus service to provide safer and more accessible transportation for women. Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon confirmed the expansion during a recent announcement, saying more positive developments for public transport will be shared soon.
The Pink BRT buses now operate on the Numaish Chorangi to Surjani route, with plans to extend the service to the Edhi Orange Line BRT and the Green Line BRT. These dedicated buses are part of Sindh’s ongoing efforts to improve public transport and ensure safety and convenience for female commuters.
Minister Memon added that the provincial government has encouraged federal and provincial authorities in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to introduce similar women-focused transport services in their cities.
At the launch event on the Green Line BRT route, Memon also revealed that the government is preparing special bikes for children with disabilities, which will be distributed free of cost. Daily meetings are being held by the Transport Department to finalize distribution logistics.
Memon emphasized that inclusive and accessible public transport is a shared responsibility, and the Sindh government is committed to ensuring all citizens benefit from these facilities.
