Faisalabad Boiler Explosion Death Toll Rises to 15 as Rescue Efforts Continue

The tragic boiler explosion that rocked Faisalabad on Friday morning has now claimed 15 lives, as rescue teams recovered more bodies from the wreckage. Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar confirmed the rising death toll, while at least seven injured victims continue to receive treatment in nearby hospitals.

The blast occurred at a glue-manufacturing factory located in Malikpur. The impact was so powerful that it destroyed a major portion of the factory and damaged several houses built around it. According to the commissioner, the initial investigation suggests that the explosion happened due to a gas leakage in the boiler.

Most of those who lost their lives were residents of nearby houses that collapsed after the explosion. He added that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is personally monitoring the rescue and relief operations.

At first, authorities reported three fatalities and several injuries, but the number steadily increased to 10 and later 15, as more bodies were pulled from the debris. Some critically injured victims also succumbed to their wounds.

A Rescue 1122 spokesperson said the blast caused the factory building to collapse and triggered a fire inside the premises. Rescue teams are still on-site, removing debris and searching for survivors, as more people are feared trapped underneath.

The explosion took place in the factory’s chemical warehouse, causing a large portion of the roof and walls to cave in. Behind the factory, seven to eight nearby houses suffered severe structural damage, trapping both residents and factory workers under the rubble.

Civil defence teams have joined the operation, while the Faisalabad Deputy Commissioner is supervising rescue efforts. Authorities fear the death toll may rise further as search operations continue throughout the day.
