CJ Aminuddin Khan Calls New FCC a Landmark for Pakistan
Chief Justice (CJ) Aminuddin Khan, in his first statement as the top judge of the Federal Constitutional Court (FCC), described the establishment of the newly constituted court under the 27th Amendment as a landmark in Pakistan’s constitutional path, reinforcing the country’s rule of law.
The recent development surfaced in the dramatic turn of events; FCC CJ Aminuddin Khan’s remark was made public on the court’s newly formed website.
Following the foundation of the FCC under the recent 27th Constitutional Amendment, the appointed CJ Aminuddin called the institution’s mandate of great importance: to interpret the Constitution with clarity, independence, and fidelity; to protect the fundamental rights guaranteed to the public; and to ensure that the constitutional order remains a source of stability, justice, and balance for all institutions of the state.”
The newly appointed CJ of the FCC, in addition, added that the court work carries deep implications for the lives, liberties, and aspirations of Pakistan’s citizens.
“Each matter brought before this court will be approached with an unwavering commitment to fairness and restraint, guided solely by the Constitution and the principles of justice that lie at its heart,” the FCC CJ added.
CJ Aminuddin Khan further suggested the new website to enhance transparency and accessibility. It will give the people, the Bar, and the state institutions exact information on the newly founded FCC’s jurisdiction, decisions, and procedures.
“In an age where the effective delivery of justice is inseparable from the free flow of information, we hope that this platform will serve as a meaningful bridge between the court and the people it exists to serve,” he said.
The FCC’s CJ showed optimism that the FCC will become “a guardian of constitutionalism and an enduring symbol of justice for generations to land.” While wrapping up his statement by invoking guidance to fulfill responsibilities “with humility, wisdom, and unmatched determination to the constitution.”
However, for those who did not know, Justice Aminuddin previously administered the oath as the maiden CJ of the newly formed FCC last Friday upon the 27th Constitutional Amendment.
Notably, Justice Aminuddin began his law career nearly around four decades ago and previously served as the chief of the now-dissolved constitutional bench, which was established due to the 26th Constitution Amendment back in 2024.
