Federal Government Lifts Ban on Gold Import, Export
Islamabad: The federal government has lifted the ban on the import and export of gold on Saturday as GTV News reported.
The news sources claimed that after the approval of the federal cabinet, the Ministry of Commerce issued a notification lifting the ban on the import and export of gold.
The notification suggested that the suspended SRO related to the global trade of gold has been reinstated.
The notification additional states that the federal government has also made some amendments related to the import and export of precious metals and jewelry, while the framework for the import and export of precious metals and jewelry will remain intact, the framework will continue with improvements in transparency and automation.
However, it is pertinent to note that in May this year, a ban was imposed on the export and import of gold. On May 6, 2025, the Ministry of Commerce suspended the SRO regulating the gold trade for 60 days.
