Ashfaq Ahmed Khalil Appointed Federal Secretary of Information & Broadcasting

Following the approval of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, senior Information Ministry officer Ashfaq Ahmed Khalil has been appointed as the Federal Secretary of Information & Broadcasting. The official notification has been issued.

Prior to this appointment, Ashfaq Ahmed Khalil was serving as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and has held several key positions within the ministry. His previous roles include Director General at the Press Information Department (PID) Peshawar and Press Counsellor at the Embassy of Pakistan in Tokyo, Japan.

He has also served in various important positions in the Directorate of Electronic Media & Publications, PEMRA, Information Service Academy, and PID. His extensive experience is expected to strengthen the administrative and policy functions of the ministry.

According to sources, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif conducted interviews of senior Information Ministry officials including Tariq Khan, Arshad Munir, Ashfaq Ahmed Khalil, Ms. Umarna Wazir, and Saeed Ahmed Sheikh, among whom Ashfaq Ahmed Khalil was shortlisted and selected for the position of Federal Secretary.

The new appointment is expected to ensure continuity at the administrative and policy levels within the ministry and enhance effective government communication. Under Ashfaq Ahmed Khalil’s leadership, the ministry is anticipated to further strengthen the exchange of information between the government and the public.
