FC headquarters in Peshawar under attack: Police

24 November, 2025 09:25

PESHAWAR — Monday: The headquarters of the Federal Constabulary (FC) in Peshawar came under a heavy attack on Monday, senior police officials confirmed. The incident took place in a busy part of the city, close to the military cantonment.

Peshawar Capital City Police Officer Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmad told reporters that the FC building was targeted early in the day. He said that police and security teams reached the spot within minutes and sealed the entire area. “We are responding to the attack, and the area is being cordoned off,” he said.

According to security sources, the assault began when a suicide bomber blew himself up at the main gate of the FC headquarters. After the blast, heavy gunfire was heard from inside the compound. Officials confirmed that two militants were killed during the exchange of fire. Security forces continue to search the area to ensure that no attacker remains inside.

The FC, previously known as the Frontier Constabulary, was renamed by the government in July. Its main headquarters is located in a tightly populated area, making the attack even more dangerous for nearby residents.

Pakistan has already seen a rise in terror attacks, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. The situation worsened after the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) ended its ceasefire with the government in November 2022. Since then, the group has repeatedly targeted police, security forces, and law enforcement personnel.

In a similar attack in September, six soldiers were martyred when terrorists attempted to storm another FC installation in Bannu district. Security forces killed five attackers in that incident. The military later stated that the attack was carried out by Indian proxy Fitna-al-Khawarij, a term used by officials for TTP militants.

The situation in Peshawar is still developing. Authorities say that initial information may change as more details become available. They have assured that updates will be released once verified by credible and qualified sources.
