Quetta’s Cold Winds Heading Toward Karachi: PMD

24 November, 2025 19:33

The PMD stated that Karachi’s nighttime temperatures are likely to fall noticeably, dropping between 13°C and 15°C over the next 24 hours. The Met Office added that continental air is currently dominating most parts of the country, contributing to a more intense cold wave.

In its broader national forecast, the PMD said cold and dry weather is expected across Pakistan, with severe cold anticipated in high-altitude regions. Fog is also likely to thicken gradually over the plains of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), potentially affecting early-morning and late-night travel due to reduced visibility.

The Met Office further predicted that both day and night temperatures will continue to decline across northern areas in the coming days.

A summary of the last 24 hours showed that cold and dry conditions prevailed over most regions, while hilly areas experienced harsh winter weather. Smog and fog patches were also reported across several low-lying areas of Punjab and KP.

Some of the lowest temperatures recorded on Sunday included Skardu and Leh at -8°C, Gilgit at -6°C, Quetta at -4°C, and -3°C in Babusar, Gupis, and Astore. Kalat and Dir registered lows of -2°C.
