Pakistanis with Work Visas Must Follow New Protector Rules – Here’s What You Need to Know

26 November, 2025 16:25

The Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) has issued a reminder for Pakistanis working abroad or planning to travel for work. They must follow the mandatory visa protector registration process.

Before leaving Pakistan, every overseas worker must get a protector stamp or electronic verification.

If this step is missed, workers may face problems when returning to Pakistan, such as delays or issues at immigration.

The OPF clarified that workers without protector registration will be considered unregistered and could face legal and other problems.

Registered workers can access various benefits and welfare programs offered by the OPF.

Overseas Workers’ Insurance

Registered workers are covered by insurance offering compensation up to Rs1 million in case of death and Rs400,000 for disability. A separate Rs500,000 grant is also available based on the details recorded when registering.

Insurance Renewal Fee

Workers who have been abroad for more than five years must renew their insurance, which costs Rs2,500.

Visa Protector Fee

Starting November 2025, the total protector fee for workers with direct foreign employment is Rs9,200. This includes Rs4,000 for the OPF fund, Rs2,500 for the insurance premium, Rs2,500 for registration, and Rs200 for the OEC fee.
