Ishaq Dar invites Putin, urges Afghan peace in international talks

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar held a press conference in Islamabad where he discussed his recent international visits and Pakistan’s position on regional and global issues.

Dar said he visited Moscow, Bahrain, and Brussels, where he attended important meetings and represented Pakistan. At the SCO Conference, he presented Pakistan’s economic reforms and highlighted the country’s major economic priorities.

He said Pakistan believes in peace and stability, adding, “No power in the world can defeat Pakistan.” He stressed that peace in Afghanistan is essential for peace in the region.

Meetings in Moscow and Invitation to President Putin

Dar shared that during the Moscow visit, he held discussions on peace, stability, and development in Afghanistan. He also invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to visit Pakistan.
He proposed using local currencies for mutual trade among SCO member countries. Dar also said Pakistan has played a strong role in reducing poverty.

Pakistan’s Stance on Afghanistan

Ishaq Dar said he visited Afghanistan and clearly stated that peace is the only way forward. He urged Afghan authorities to ensure their land is not used for terrorism.
He added that the European Union (EU) and ASEAN countries supported Pakistan’s stance on Afghanistan.

Dar said Pakistan wants stronger coordination between the OIC and the United Nations. He briefed the EU about Pakistan’s commitment to peace in Afghanistan and said misunderstandings were removed during meetings with European officials.

He reminded that Pakistan has given huge sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, and added that terrorism coming from Afghanistan is unacceptable. Pakistan has asked the Afghan regime to take action against terrorist groups. Afghan refugees in Pakistan are being sent back with dignity, Dar added.

Support for Afghan People and International Cooperation

Dar said Pakistan wants prosperity and development for the people of Afghanistan and wishes to see long-term stability in the country.

He also met the NATO Secretary after many years, and both sides agreed to increase cooperation.

In another development, Dar announced that Hungary will offer 400 scholarships to Pakistani students next year.
