HEC to launch blockchain-based degree attestation system - check details
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) is introducing a new degree attestation system using blockchain technology. The aim is to make the process faster, transparent, and fully online, so applicants no longer need to visit HEC offices or submit physical documents.
HEC’s Plans and Launch Timeline
HEC has finalized the project to revamp the degree attestation system. Acting Chairman Mr. Nadeem Mahbub has directed the team to prioritize the task for early implementation. The new system will be fully operational within the next six months.
How the System Will Work
For ERP-Enabled Universities:
The 25 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems will have students’ information automatically added to the blockchain. Graduates from these universities won’t need to submit any documents, and their degrees will be verified instantly through the HEC portal. For Non-ERP Universities:
Students will submit their degrees and transcripts online through the HEC portal. After verification by the respective university, the documents will be added to the blockchain.
Once verified, degrees will be digitally secured on HEC’s blockchain, allowing instant authentication by government departments, the Foreign Office, embassies, and private organizations.
Benefits of the New System
Fully paperless and automated
Tamper-proof records for secure verification
Eliminates manual stamping and physical documentation
Ensures transparent and efficient degree attestation
This blockchain-based system will simplify the attestation process and make it easier for graduates to get their degrees verified instantly, both in Pakistan and abroad.
