Govt launches new Fingerprint System for passport applicants

06 December, 2025 13:45

The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports, in partnership with NADRA, has launched a new fingerprint verification system for people applying for new passports. This new system is meant to make the process easier, faster, and more secure.

With this new method, applicants can now confirm their fingerprints using the NADRA Pak-ID mobile app from anywhere and at any time. If someone is unable to verify their fingerprints properly, the app also offers a facial recognition option as a backup.

To start the process, applicants must first visit the online passport web portal and begin their application. When they reach the fingerprint verification stage, they need to log in to the Pak-ID mobile app.

Inside the app, users must go to the biometric verification section, select “Online Passport,” and then enter their passport tracking ID and Identity Card (CNIC) number. The app will then guide them step by step to complete fingerprint or facial verification.

Once the biometric verification is done successfully, the system shows a confirmation message and sends the applicant back to the passport web portal. After that, they can complete the remaining steps and submit their passport application online.
