Maryam Nawaz Criticizes KP Govt, Highlights Punjab Development
The foundation stone of the Gujranwala Mass Transit Bus Project was laid in a formal ceremony attended by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. Both leaders addressed the gathering and highlighted the significance of the project for the region.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that the development work underway in the province reflects the vision of Nawaz Sharif. She announced that the Faisalabad Metro Project would begin within a few days and added that every development initiative in Punjab carries the leadership imprint of Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif. Maryam Nawaz said that despite earlier fears of Pakistan defaulting, the country’s economy has now stabilized. According to her, those who wished for Pakistan’s economic collapse have been proven wrong.
Maryam Nawaz also criticized political opponents, saying that leaders from Mianwali and Gujarat accomplished little for the country. She described Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a province in ruins and said its Chief Minister spends time outside Adiala Jail instead of serving the people. She added that Wazir Ali should be present in KP hospitals rather than at Adiala. She claimed that KP has experienced a “government of sedition” for 12 years and argued that if the PML-N had governed the province during that time, Pakistan would be in a much better position. Referring to political developments in Haripur, she said that the victory of the lion symbol there reflects the incompetence of the local leadership.
In her speech, Maryam Nawaz outlined several initiatives underway in Punjab. She said that the government aims to construct 20,000 kilometers of roads in a year and that the removal of encroachments has improved the city landscape, revealing the blue dome. She added that ration card distribution is ongoing across the province. Highlighting the recent devastating floods in Punjab, she said that the provincial government conducted a historic rescue operation. According to her, 750,000 farmers have received Kisan Cards, CCTV monitoring continues across the province, and steps are being taken to make Punjab drug-free. She noted that the crime rate has dropped due to CCD initiatives, the culture of recommendations has been abolished, the province will soon be weapons-free, and trillions of rupees’ worth of projects have been completed without corruption.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif praised Maryam Nawaz for giving Gujranwala a historic development project. He said the mass transit system will transform the fate of the city and provide modern travel facilities to citizens. He added that the project will benefit students, patients, workers and the general public by making transportation easier. Shahbaz Sharif commended the efforts of the Punjab Chief Minister and said she is shaping a new chapter of development in the province.
The prime minister highlighted the long-standing contributions of Nawaz Sharif, stating that he laid the foundation for construction-focused politics in 1985 and defeated conspiracy politics with development. He said Nawaz Sharif’s greatest achievement was making Pakistan a nuclear power, which played a critical role during the May conflict. He added that being a nuclear nation helped Pakistan achieve a historic victory in the battle for justice.
Shahbaz Sharif also discussed environmental improvements, noting that Lahore was once the most polluted city. He credited the Chief Minister and her team for implementing measures that significantly reduced smog in the province.
