Islamabad, Jakarta Sign Major Agreements to Strengthen Ties

09 December, 2025 15:23

PM Shehbaz Sharif promised to work closely with Indonesia to accomplish the goals set for collaboration in several fields during a joint press stakeout that followed.

The prime minister mentioned the existing 4.5 billion dollar bilateral trade volume and stated that both parties talked about working together to balance trade, especially by increasing Pakistan’s exports of IT services and agricultural goods.

In order to assist Indonesia in meeting its healthcare demands, PM Shehbaz stated that Pakistan will also send physicians, dentists, medical professionals, and other specialists to the country.

The prime minister pointed out that President Subianto’s visit coincides with the anniversary of the beginning of diplomatic relations and that Pakistan and Indonesia have been friends for more than 75 years. He conveyed Pakistan’s fervent want to commemorate this achievement in a significant manner.

He recalled Indonesia’s unwavering support for Pakistan during the 1965 conflict with a neighboring nation, saying that the Pakistani people would never forget it.

PM Shehabz expressed optimism that the visit by the president of Indonesia will further strengthen the two countries’ fraternal ties. He emphasized their mutual dedication to cooperating for development and peace, not only for their own nations but for the region as a whole.

President Subianto received a guard of honor and a cordial welcome when he arrived at the PM House. Both presidents stood on the saluting dais while the national anthems of Pakistan and Indonesia were played.

The Indonesian president examined the guard of honor, which was given by a well-dressed group of Pakistan’s three armed services.

Additionally, President Subianto planted a memorial sapling on the PM’s House yard.

Prior to a one-on-one meeting and delegation-level discussions, the two leaders introduced their respective delegations to one another.

The previous presidential visit from Indonesia was made by then-President Joko Widodo in 2018; hence, this is President Prabowo’s first trip to Pakistan since taking office.
