ADB Projects Pakistan’s GDP Growth to Reach 3.0% in 2025

10 December, 2025 12:11

Islamabad: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has released a new report on Pakistan’s economy, projecting that the country’s GDP growth will rise to 3.0% by 2025, up from the earlier estimate of 2.7%.

The sources in this regard claimed that Pakistan recorded a 5.7% growth rate in the last quarter of the previous fiscal year, driven by accelerated production in major industries. The ADB added that strong improvement is expected during the current fiscal year as well, supported by a favorable business environment.

The report notes that economic momentum was maintained despite the June 2025 floods, highlighting that an increase in private sector credit and consumption contributed significantly to overall growth. The ADB further stated that the upward trend is being sustained by a recovery in investment and industrial activity.

While domestic indicators show steady progress, the report cautioned that external demand remains weak and uncertainty in global trade continues to pose challenges. Despite these external pressures, growth in 2025–26 is expected to improve further.

The ADB concluded that Pakistan’s GDP forecast for 2025 has been revised upward from 2.7% to 3.0%, reflecting strengthening economic fundamentals and resilience within key sectors.
