Protest Outside Adiala Jail Ends Amid Tension as Workers Hurl Stones
The sit-in of PTI workers and Imran Khan’s sisters at the Factory Naka near Adiala Jail was ended at 2 am after police action.
The media reports claimed that the police used water cannons to disperse the protesters, during which Senator Mushtaq also arrived to express solidarity with the sisters and was hit by the water cannon.
Protesters also threw stones at the police, resulting in the detention of several activists.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gauhar and Imran Khan’s sisters were not allowed to meet, following which the workers and sisters sat in on a sit-in at the factory checkpoint.
The police, led by Aleema Khan, instructed the workers participating in the sit-in to remain calm and retreat. Aleema Khan said that the police are our brothers and there is no fight between us. The only purpose of pushing the workers back is to protect women.
Aleema Khan said that permission for the meeting has not been granted for a long time, and her sister did not talk about anything political in the last meeting.
He raised the question of on whose orders Imran Khan has been kept in solitary confinement and that he has been sitting on a sit-in for the same purpose for the past month.
The reports further said that negotiations were held between the police and the sit-in leadership, but no results were achieved.
The sit-in leadership demanded that all vehicles seized during the negotiations be returned, after which the sit-in was ended.
The police had transferred 14 government and private vehicles of PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to the police station.
