Weather: KP, GB, and AJK expected to receive rain and snowfall from December 13

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said that Pakistan is officially poised to receive much-required rain and snowfall weather this weekend.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir

Between December 13 and 15, with sporadic pauses, Kashmir’s Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, and Haveli are expected to have light to moderate rainfall and snowfall over the hills.

Merged Districts / KP (Southern Belt)

On December 14 and 15, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, and Waziristan are predicted to see partly overcast to cloudy conditions with light rain and snowfall.

Balochistan

Light rain and snowfall are forecast for Quetta, Ziarat, Zhob, Sherani, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, and Noshki during the same timeframe.

Islamabad, Rawalpindi & Upper Punjab

There are chances of drizzle in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, and the Potohar region, while light rain and light snowfall are expected in Murree and Galiyat on Sunday and Monday.

Fog Advisory

Plain regions of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh are expected to see moderate and occasionally dense fog from the evening of December 12 through December 16. The public is urged to exercise caution at this time because these foggy conditions may drastically impair vision and interfere with traffic on motorways and highways.

The Met Office has indicated that another western disturbance weather is likely to influence western and upper parts of the country from December 19.

Advisory for tourists

During the expected timeframe, road closures and slick conditions could result from snowfall in Naran, Kaghan, Kalam, Malam Jabba, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Quetta, Ziarat, and Chaman. Additionally, there is a chance of landslides in Gilgit-Baltistan and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is highly recommended that tourists and travelers visiting mountainous regions exercise caution.
