Action to Be Taken Against Faiz Hameed on More Issues: Khawaja Asif
During a news conference in Sialkot, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif stated that former DG ISI Faiz Hameed will also face consequences for other issues.
Khawaja Asif said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder’s project began ten or twelve years ago and that Nawaz Sharif was ousted from office and imprisoned on false accusations.
Khawaja Asif claimed that Faiz Hameed and the PTI founder were partners, alleging that both conspired to destabilize the country. He said Faiz Hameed was assigned the task of removing Nawaz Sharif and bringing the PTI founder into power, which, according to him, was carried out under Faiz Hameed’s supervision.
The defense minister alleged that political opponents were jailed during that period and that threats, arrests, and pressure tactics were used at the behest of Faiz Hameed. He added that through the PTI founder, Faiz Hameed found an opportunity to exert control and continued to play a damaging role against the country.
Khawaja Asif further claimed that Faiz Hameed was behind the May 9 incidents, questioning the treatment of army installations and national monuments during those events.
He said that even today, conspiratorial elements are trying to revive the PTI founder politically. He cited recent events, saying that Pakistan achieved history in May of this year and that the fight for justice was won under the direction of Field Marshal Asim Munir.
The defense minister stated that Pakistan has gained unprecedented respect internationally, including appreciation from the United States, due to the leadership of the Field Marshal. He added that Pakistan’s enemies will be held accountable and stressed that accountability will also apply to those in uniform.
Khawaja Asif said that Faiz Hameed still has the right to appeal, unlike Nawaz Sharif, who, according to him, was denied such relief and faced severe hardships.
Commenting on security issues, he said that terrorist activities on Pakistan’s western border are originating from Afghanistan. He criticized the PTI founder’s call for negotiations, asking how talks could be held when the hands of terrorists are stained with the blood of Pakistani soldiers.
He also alleged that PTI leadership is paying bribes to the Taliban, calling such actions unacceptable and against national interests.
