14 December, 2025 14:27

Islamabad: The Meteorological Department has predicted rain and snowfall in different parts of the country until December 18.

The National Emergency Operation Center (NDMA) has issued an advisory regarding rain, snowfall, and weather in Islamabad and its surrounding areas from today until December 18. It is expected to be partly cloudy in Murree, Galiyat, and its surrounding areas.

Rain and snowfall are expected in various areas of Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kohistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan, while rain and snowfall are likely in various areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Balochistan.

NDMA says that from December 13 to 15, a series of westerly winds will affect the northern and western regions. Due to the weather conditions, the intensity of fog is also expected to increase. Light to moderate rain is expected in the plains, snowfall is likely in the mountainous and upper areas, and heavy snowfall may occur in the mountainous areas of Kohistan and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the NDMA, there is a possibility of heavy snowfall in the upper areas of Gilgit-Baltistan and the mountainous areas of Azad Kashmir, affecting traffic flow on mountain roads and causing road closures in some places.

Light rain is expected in some areas of Quetta, Ziarat, and northwestern Balochistan, with snowfall in mountainous areas.

Traffic flow is likely to be affected due to slippery roads due to snowfall in the upper areas. Intermittent light snowfall is expected at several places in the northern areas.

The NDMA has appealed to the public that tourists and travelers avoid unnecessary travel to mountainous areas.
