Woman Killed in Karachi Over Rent Dispute; Tenant Couple Arrested

A woman was killed in Karachi’s Orangi Town after asking tenants for unpaid rent, police said, adding that the husband and wife accused of the murder have been arrested.

According to investigators, the deceased, identified as Asma, wife of Mansoor, lived with her husband in a rented house in Orangi Saadhe Gyarah. Asma had been assigned the responsibility of collecting rent for the property, which had two separate portions, with another family residing in the second portion.

Authorities revealed that the accused couple, who had allegedly failed to pay rent for the past three to four months, confronted Asma on December 4. When she went to demand the overdue rent, the couple allegedly pushed her, causing her to fall and die instantly.

Following the incident, the suspects reportedly placed Asma’s body in a sack, transported it on a motorcycle, and dumped it near Hawa Goth before fleeing the scene. A missing person report had already been filed, prompting the police investigation that ultimately led to the arrest of the accused couple, identified as Kishwar and Adnan.

Asma’s body has been shifted to a hospital for legal formalities, and authorities confirmed that further investigation into the case is underway.
