Sydney Terror Attack: India and Israel’s Attempts to Frame Pakistan Fail

15 December, 2025 15:10

A recent attempt by India and Israel to falsely link Pakistan to a terror attack in Sydney has failed, with misleading propaganda quickly debunked. The tragic incident in Sydney resulted in the deaths of 16 people, including one of the attackers, and left nearly 40 others injured. One attacker was killed in a police shootout, while another was apprehended injured and remains under hospital care.

Immediately after the attack, certain Israeli and Indian media outlets, along with affiliated social media accounts, attempted to associate the incident with Pakistan. The Israeli newspaper Jerusalem claimed the attackers were Pakistani, while social media accounts linked to “RAW” also spread misleading propaganda against Pakistan.

“According to Pakistani records, there is no evidence that Sajid Akram or Naveed Akram are Pakistani nationals,” sources stated. Australian authorities from the Pakistani community confirmed that there is no information linking the attackers to Pakistan.

Contrary to claims made by Indian media and social media accounts suggesting Sajid Akram had entered Australia on a tourist visa, sources clarified that he arrived in 1998 on a student visa. His visa was later converted to a partner visa in 2001 after marrying an Australian citizen, Warina. Australian Home Minister Tony Burke has confirmed these facts.

Sources added that Sajid Akram has been a member of an Australian gun club for over 10 years, and six licensed firearms were recovered from him. Evidence indicates that his origin is in Nangarhar province, Afghanistan.

Australian investigative authorities have not linked the attackers to Pakistan, while a colleague working with Naveed Akram stated in a video that Naveed Akram is from India.

Earlier, Indian media circulated images of a Pakistani citizen, Sheikh Naveed, claiming him to be a suspect in the Sydney attack. Sheikh Naveed released a video statement disproving the propaganda, asserting that he has no connection to the incident.

The failed attempts by foreign media to falsely implicate Pakistan in the Sydney terror attack underscore the importance of verifying facts before spreading information and highlight the resilience of accurate reporting in the face of misinformation.
