Three Children Injured as Ferris Wheel Collapses in Sialkot

Three children were injured after a Ferris wheel cabin broke in Kotli Loharan, Sialkot, on Sunday, with a disturbing video of the incident circulating online.

Footage from the incident showed the cabin snapping mid-ride, leaving the children hanging from the main structure of the swing. Two boys and a young girl were inside the cabin at the time. As the ride continued moving, the children could be heard screaming before they fell to the ground, sustaining injuries.

Authorities revealed that the Ferris wheel had been installed without obtaining the required permission or no-objection certificate (NOC).

Police promptly responded, shifting the injured children to a nearby hospital and registering a case against the ride’s owner and operator, both of whom were arrested.

Deputy Commissioner Sialkot Saba Asghar Ali took notice of the incident, suspending the district council enforcement officer and the assistant sub-inspector assigned to the fair for negligence. She also ordered the immediate sealing of the site and the registration of a first information report (FIR) against those responsible.

The incident has sparked concerns over safety standards at fairs and amusement rides in the region, with authorities emphasizing stricter enforcement to prevent similar accidents in the future.
