Pakistan Railways has updated the departure timings of several passenger trains departing from Lahore and Faisalabad after dense fog affected rail operations across parts of Punjab on Tuesday.
Railway officials said poor visibility during the early morning hours led to delays in multiple long-distance services heading to major destinations, including Karachi, Quetta, and Rawalpindi. Passengers have been urged to confirm revised schedules before arriving at railway stations to avoid inconvenience.
Among the trains impacted by the fog-related disruption:
- Karakoram Express (42-Down), traveling to Karachi, will now depart Lahore at 4:00 PM instead of its original 3:00 PM schedule.
- Pak Business Express (34-Down) bound for Karachi has been delayed by one hour and 45 minutes and is now scheduled to leave at 6:15 PM, compared to its earlier timing of 4:30 PM.
- Karachi Express (16-Down) will depart Lahore at 7:30 PM, reflecting a delay of one and a half hours from its original 6:00 PM departure.
- Multan Express (18-Down), operating from Faisalabad to Karachi, will now leave at 6:50 PM, one hour later than its previously scheduled time of 5:50 PM.
Railway authorities confirmed that other passenger services, including trains traveling toward Karachi, Quetta, and Rawalpindi, are currently running according to their normal schedules.
Divisional Superintendent of Railways Lahore, Inamullah, said that passenger facilitation teams have been instructed to remain present at stations to assist travelers during the disruption. He added that all possible measures are being taken to minimise inconvenience and ensure passenger safety as foggy weather conditions continue across the region.
