ABAD Announces Closure of Businesses in Karachi Over Extortion

The Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD) has announced the closure of businesses in Karachi due to the rising issue of extortion.

ABAD Chairman Hassan Bakhshi stated that a deadline of January 15 next year has been given to the authorities to resolve the matter.

He said that extortion is rapidly increasing in Karachi, adding that at least 10 ABAD members have received extortion calls originating from Dubai and other countries.

According to Hassan Bakhshi, in one case, a demand of Rs 5 crore was made. When the amount was not paid, the individual was shot and injured.

ABAD has urged the authorities to take immediate action to protect businesses and restore confidence in the city’s security.
