Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has announced the inclusion of ethics as a subject in the province’s school curriculum, underscoring the importance of combining education with character development. The CM made this announcement during his visit to a government school in Peshawar, where he emphasized the need for training alongside formal education to create responsible, principled, and successful individuals.
Speaking at the event, CM Afridi remarked, “Training is essential alongside education. It develops responsible, principled, and successful individuals.” His remarks highlighted the government’s commitment to fostering both academic and moral growth in students.
In addition to the curriculum change, the chief minister directed relevant authorities to install CCTV cameras in all public schools to enhance security and ensure the safety of students and staff. He also emphasized the importance of prioritizing facilities for educational institutions and ensuring the timely distribution of free textbooks to all students at the start of the new academic session.
Afridi assured that the provincial government would focus on improving the quality of education in government schools, with a commitment to addressing existing shortcomings.
The CM’s initiatives follow his announcement last month to establish two new universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, despite financial constraints. Afridi also revealed plans to establish the Arshad Sharif University in the province, along with another university in his native Khyber tribal district, further expanding access to higher education.
With these steps, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is aiming to improve both the quality and accessibility of education, while also emphasizing the development of ethical values among students.
