Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the Iqbal Flyover at T-Chowk and the signal-free corridor on Islamabad Expressway in a ceremony marking the completion of both major infrastructure projects.
The projects were completed in a record time of 77 days at a cost of PKR 1.4 billion. “The projects have permanently resolved the traffic congestion issue for vehicles entering from GT Road,” officials said during the briefing.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi added that a service road will also be constructed alongside the Expressway to further facilitate traffic flow. “Traffic jams at T-Chowk were a common problem,” he noted, highlighting the significance of the new infrastructure. He also emphasized that the initiatives align with the Vision 2027 plan for the development of the federal capital.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated all departments involved in the projects, stating, “The project has been completed in record time.” He further remarked, “These projects are important for the convenience of ordinary citizens,” and added, “Providing the public with the best travel facilities is highly commendable.”
The inauguration of the flyover and signal-free corridor is expected to significantly improve traffic movement and commuter convenience in Islamabad.
