Punjab Driving License Centres Announce New Timings

23 December, 2025 11:55

The Punjab Traffic Police have extended the working hours of driving license centres across the province. The move aims to help citizens amid a strict crackdown on drivers without valid licenses.

Officials said the new timings will make it easier for applicants and reduce long queues at busy centres.

24-Hour Service in Major Cities

Under the updated schedule, driving license centres in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Multan, and Sialkot will remain open 24 hours a day.

This change is designed to provide continuous service for residents of high-population cities.

Timings for Smaller Cities

In smaller cities, driving license centres will operate from 8:00 am to 12:00 midnight.

Traffic Police officials said these hours will ensure that citizens in smaller towns have enough time to complete licensing procedures without overcrowding.

Learner’s Permit Required

A spokesperson for the Punjab Traffic Police clarified that applicants must first obtain a learner’s permit.

The permit can be obtained:

  • Online via the official website

  • Or at the nearest driving license centre

Once the learner’s permit is issued, applicants can apply for a regular driving license.

E-Driving License Issued After Test

After passing the driving test, applicants will receive an e-driving license immediately.

Officials confirmed that the e-driving license has the same legal validity as a traditional card license. Citizens can use it nationwide for all legal purposes.

How to Download Your E-Driving License

Punjab residents can download their e-driving license easily by following these steps:

  1. Visit dlims.punjab.gov.pk

  2. Click on the e-license option

  3. Enter your CNIC number and date of birth

  4. Click Download to get the PDF copy

They said the extended hours will help reduce overcrowding, improve convenience, and support safer roads across the province.
