Karachi Imposes Daytime Ban on Heavy Traffic

To enhance traffic flow in the city, Karachi officials have banned large vehicles from moving during the day.

Dumpers and other heavy vehicles will not be permitted on city roads between 6:00 am and 10:00 pm, per an official announcement.

For a period of two months, this restriction will be in effect. However, heavy traffic has been given limited permission on specific routes.

Authorities said that heavy vehicles traveling from Super Highway to New Karachi Industrial Area will be allowed.

Similarly, vehicles can use the National Highway to travel through Godam Chowrangi, Younus Chowrangi, and Dawood Chowrangi up to Jam Sadiq Bridge.

Heavy traffic will also be permitted on routes from Northern Bypass to Pracha Chowk, Siemens Chowrangi, Northern Bypass to Gulbai, Mauripur to Karachi Port, and Kathore Link Road to Sassi Toll Plaza.

According to officials, these actions are intended to lessen traffic congestion, enhance road safety, and decrease city dwellers’ risk of accidents.
