KP Citizens Reject Chief Minister’s So-Called Protest Movement

Middle-Class Tribal Representative Becomes KP Chief Minister: Sohail Afridi
Peshawar | December 26, 2025: The people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have largely rejected the protest movement announced by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, calling it ineffective and disconnected from the province’s real issues.
Citizens Question Protest Logic
KP residents said that instead of sitting in protests or dharnas, the Chief Minister should focus on long-standing problems such as governance, healthcare, and employment. Many described the announcement to start the movement from Lahore as “ridiculous” and “mischievous politics.”
Criticism of PTI Government
Citizens criticized the PTI-led KP government for 13 years of “negative and protest-based politics” without delivering meaningful results. Many questioned, “If PTI already governs KP, then who are these protests against?”
Residents added that such political maneuvers only confuse the public and distract from the real development work the province needs.
Call for Focus on Governance
People urged Chief Minister Sohail Afridi to prioritize provincial issues instead of engaging in protest politics. They highlighted rising unemployment and lack of job opportunities in the province. One citizen remarked, “The Chief Minister should sit in the office and work on KP’s problems, not dharnas.”
Comparison With Punjab Development
KP residents also compared the situation with Punjab, where significant development projects are ongoing. They said PTI has done little for its own province while trying to mobilize KP citizens for its political agenda elsewhere.
Public Opinion on Protest Participation
Many citizens expressed that people of Punjab or KP are not naïve enough to be influenced blindly by political rhetoric. They emphasized that negative politics should not exploit the public, and KP’s long-term interests must come first.
The so-called protest movement by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has met with widespread public disapproval. KP residents insist that the government’s attention should remain on governance, development, healthcare, and job creation rather than political theatrics.
