UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Concludes First Pakistan Visit

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, president of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), wrapped up his first-ever one-day visit to Pakistan on Friday.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his appreciation for the long-standing fraternal connections between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates on X (previously Twitter). “It was a pleasure to welcome my dear brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, on an official visit to Pakistan, adding to the warmth and festivities as we enter the New Year together,” the prime minister stated.

According to him, the two sides had “most cordial and constructive talks” in which they discussed all facets of their extensive bilateral cooperation as well as initiatives for prosperity and peace.

The prime minister expressed pride in Pakistan’s “longstanding, deep-rooted, fraternal ties” with the United Arab Emirates, adding that these ties were strengthening under President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s leadership.

During UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s first official visit to Pakistan, the two countries agreed on common objectives of peace, stability, and sustainable development.

Earlier, President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met in Islamabad. The meeting was attended by Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar.

Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates decided to deepen their brotherly ties. During the discussions, ongoing bilateral cooperation projects were reviewed.

The leaders emphasized the necessity of increasing collaboration in infrastructure, energy, investment, and information technology. Additionally, they decided to boost trade between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.

It was decided to expand cooperation in the technological industry and interpersonal relationships. The president of the United Arab Emirates and the prime minister discussed regional and international events. Both parties reiterated their commitment to staying in constant communication on issues of shared interest and once more agreed

Pakistan warmly welcomed United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Friday as he arrived in Islamabad on a one-day official visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The visit is being seen as a major step in strengthening long-standing Pakistan-UAE relations.

Ceremonial Welcome at Nur Khan Airbase

President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed was received at Nur Khan Airbase by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir, federal ministers, and senior government officials.

As the UAE president’s aircraft entered Pakistani airspace, it was escorted by Pakistan Air Force fighter jets, symbolising respect and friendship between the two countries.

Guard of Honour and Cultural Displays

The national anthems of Pakistan and the UAE were played, followed by a 21-gun salute.

A guard of honour was presented by a contingent of the Pakistan Armed Forces. Military and traditional bands performed ceremonial music.

Children dressed in traditional clothing waved Pakistani and Emirati flags, adding colour and warmth to the welcome ceremony.

High-Level UAE Delegation

President Al Nahyan is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including senior advisers Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan.

The delegation also includes UAE ministers, senior officials, and the UAE Ambassador to Pakistan, Salem Mohammed Al Zaabi.

Key Meetings and Talks

According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, this is Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s first official visit to Pakistan since assuming office as UAE president.

During the visit, he will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Discussions will cover trade, investment, energy cooperation, and regional and global issues.

Officials say the meetings aim to further strengthen the brotherly ties between Pakistan and the UAE.
